Beginners Yoga

Learn the basics of yoga with this slow paced class.  You will practice basic postures and synchronise your movement with breath.

 

The class is demonstrated and verbally instructed by the teacher.

This class is perfect for beginners or someone looking for a gentle class.

Hatha Flow

Hatha yoga brings about equilibrium by balancing the mind and body.  This class synchronises movement with breath to flow through basic to more challenging postures.

 

There is a focus on proper alignment to increase the effectiveness of the postures and the use of breath to calm the nervous system.

Mindfulness Meditation

Your mind is a muscle that needs exercise to improve focus and release bad habits. Mindfulness meditation gives you the tools to be fully present in the here and now.

'Living in the moment' reduces stress by making your mind calmer and quieter.

Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga yoga is a set sequence of postures that are practiced in order, combining movement with breath.

 

The primary Ashtanga series, (there are 6 series in total), builds strength and flexibility, aligns the body and calms the nervous system.

The class will focus on different parts of the sequence each week.

Restorative Yoga

This class gives you the opportunity to take a step back, slow down and open your body through passive stretching and slow breathing.

 

It is as much about the mind, as it is the body. You will leave feeling more aligned and grounded.

Flow to Restore

The first part of the class is dynamic movement through yoga postures and the second half is long held, passive postures that give you a very gentle stretch.

 

You will leave the class walking on air.

Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is the antidote to yang, (dynamic and active) yoga practices. In a yin class, you move slowly through passive, long held postures.

 

Yin yoga mostly works the lower part of the body; stretching and strengthening the connective tissues.

Pregnancy Yoga

This class has gentle stretching and strengthening to help you adapt and make space for the changes in your body. There are also breathing exercises and a long relaxation at the end. 

Suitable from 12 weeks up until full term.

BEGINNER FRIENDLY

Postnatal Yoga

Reconnect to your body after pregnancy. Babies chillout at the end of the mat as you are guided through gentle and safe exercises to strengthen pelvic floor and abdominal muscles and stretch out shoulders and lower backs.

Suitable from 6 weeks after birth or 8 weeks after caesarean birth.

BEGINNERS FRIENDLY

Chair Yoga

Gentle stretching and strengthening from the comfort of your chair.

These classes are at The UNACC, next to South Norwood Lake and cost £3, (paid in cash on arrival).  All ages are welcome.

Community Yoga - Everybody Flow

Everybody Flow is a light hearted and slow moving class aimed at making yoga accessible to everyone.

 

Our community classes are priced on a sliding scale to make yoga more accessible to local people. Please select either the £3, £5 or £7 option. All proceeds go to Khalsa Aid India.

 

Khalsa Aid India is a humanitarian organisation that provides support to victims of natural disasters and civil conflicts.
