Definitely a child of the sixties, Kenny was born on the banks of a wee Scottish loch, home to both a nuclear submarine base and a peace camp; this 'face-off' between
war and peace proved to be dualistic fodder for a budding philosophical mind. He also considered his birthplace as a karmic challenge, given the Caledonian climate and his love of sunshine. Yogic tendencies were observed through childhood as he regularly sat cross-legged at the back door or baked himself on top of the coal bunker!
He graduated from Aberdeen University in 1985 with an Honours Degree in French and moved to London, where he did a post-graduate drama course. The unification of his passions for music and travel led to several bus and truck tours in Europe and much sunshine and song on the seas of the Carribbean. A performance highlight was singing the music of Hair, (Let the Sunshine) to audiences in Berlin when the wall came down in 1989.
A move into Education at the turn of the Millennium was accompanied by a shift from the Gym to the Yoga Mat -many styles of yoga being explored -before finding a preference for Ashtanga. Kenny completed his 200 hour Beginners Teaching Course at the Himalaya Yoga Valley in 2013. He teaches an Ashtanga -based vinyasa flow and considers it a moving meditation. He also teaches Yoga to both the teachers and the kids at the school where he works in South London.
